Last weekend I attended two weddings; it was tiring, but I have a good time at those kinds of shindigs. Plus, weddings are good for people watching. I did a lot of that at these two--I have quite a small capacity for some of the more mainstream wedding activities (small talk, drinking, dancing, etc.), so I tend to sit myself down in a spot where I’m unlikely to be noticed and cheer from the sidelines. It is always striking to me the way that people can rally around a couple--to be at least in some small part selflessly leaning forward to celebrate and contribute to a gift that is no easy feat. To me, it is a great and mighty Hope--the bells ringing once again to call down Joy.
