We laugh now because it is the brave thing to do;
because the world would be too hard,
the pain too great,
for us to bear without relief.
I imagine there will be laughter in Heaven, too.
Though we will no longer laugh
to ignore our shame and abuse.
We will begin to laugh, harder than
ever before, at how silly it was
to worry so deeply,
and so often--
when there was really only love and
joy and hope around us, always.
